Terms of Use
Version 3.0 — effective 7 October 2026
1. About these terms.
These Terms of Use are between you and Objection Pte. Ltd., a company incorporated in Singapore (company number 202551418M), trading as The Primary ("we", "us"). They apply to everyone who visits or uses our website, platform, data room, profiles, the Primary Index and related services (the "Services"). If you give us an interview or otherwise contribute, our Contributor Terms also apply, including to interviews you gave us before you accepted them. Our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy explain how we handle personal data.
2. Eligibility and accounts.
You must be at least 18 to create an account. You must give accurate information and keep your login details secure. You are responsible for activity under your account, and you must tell us promptly at legal@theprimary.com if you think it has been misused.
3. Profiles.
- Profiles we create. We create profiles of people from public professional information and from what they have said on the record, so that expertise can be found, scored and ranked.
- Corrections. If a profile about you contains a factual error, tell us at legal@theprimary.com and we will correct it. Corrections are published alongside the original, with version history. We do not delete accurate records of what was said on the record, but you can annotate them and exercise your rights under the Privacy Policy, including the right to object.
4. Scores and rankings.
The Primary Index scores and ranks people, publications and claims using the method described at https://app.theprimary.com/methodology. Scores and rankings are our assessment based on the record at the time. They are not statements of fact about anyone's character or competence, and they change as the record changes. If you think a score is based on an error in the record, tell us and we will review it.
5. Our content and how you may use it.
The Services, including articles, transcripts, data, scores, rankings, software and design, belong to us or our licensors and contributors. You may read, share links to, and quote reasonable extracts from our content for personal, research, educational or journalistic purposes, with attribution to The Primary and the contributor. Unless we agree otherwise in writing, you may not:
- copy, scrape, crawl or extract content or data in bulk, by automated means or otherwise;
- use any part of the Services to train, fine-tune or evaluate machine-learning models, or to build a dataset or competing service;
- sell, sublicense or commercially redistribute our content or data;
- remove attribution, version history or notices.
Organisations that want to license content or data can contact us at legal@theprimary.com.
6. Acceptable use.
You must not:
- break the law or infringe anyone's rights;
- post anything defamatory, harassing, hateful or misleading, or impersonate anyone;
- interfere with the security or operation of the Services, including probing, overloading or bypassing access controls;
- use the Services to send spam or unsolicited messages.
7. What you submit.
If you submit corrections, comments, annotations, messages or files ("Submissions"), you keep your rights in them. You grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, perpetual licence to host, display, publish and use them to operate and improve the Services. Interviews and other contributions are governed by the Contributor Terms instead.
8. Complaints, right of reply and takedown.
If you believe something on The Primary is inaccurate, defamatory, infringes your copyright or other rights, or unlawfully processes your personal data, write to legal@theprimary.com with the link and your reasons. We will review it, and we may correct, annotate, restrict or remove the content, or publish your reply alongside it. Copyright notices should identify the work and confirm you are authorised to act for the owner.
9. Third-party links and services.
The Services may link to websites and services we do not control. We are not responsible for their content or practices.
10. Disclaimers.
The Services are provided "as is". Content reflects what contributors told us and our assessment of the record; it is not professional, medical, legal, financial or investment advice. To the extent the law allows, we make no warranty that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free or fit for a particular purpose.
11. Liability.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Otherwise, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profits, data or goodwill, and our total liability to you is limited to the greater of SGD 100 and the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
12. Suspension and termination.
You can close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account, or restrict access to the Services, if you break these terms, if the law requires it, or to protect the Services or other users. Sections 5, 7, 10, 11 and 14 to 16 survive termination.
13. Changes.
We may change the Services and these terms. We will give at least 30 days' notice of material changes to account holders, by email or on the Services. If you keep using the Services after a change takes effect, the new terms apply.
14. Law and disputes.
These terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, and the courts of Singapore have exclusive jurisdiction. This does not take away rights you have under the consumer or data protection laws of the country where you live.
15. General.
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force. Our failure to enforce a term is not a waiver of it. We may transfer these terms to a company in our group or to a successor of our business. No one other than you and us has rights under these terms. These terms, with the Privacy Policy, the Cookie Policy and, where they apply, the Contributor Terms, are the whole agreement between us about the Services.
16. Contact.
Contributor Terms
Version 3.0 — effective 7 October 2026
1. Who we are.
These terms are between you and Objection Pte. Ltd., a company incorporated in Singapore (company number 202551418M), trading as The Primary ("we", "us"). They apply whenever you give an interview to, or otherwise contribute to, The Primary. Our Terms of Use also apply when you use our website and platform.
2. Eligibility.
You must be at least 18 and able to enter into a binding agreement. You confirm that the information you give us about yourself, including your name, role and institution, is accurate.
3. Definitions.
- Contribution: anything you give us, including your interview answers, corrections, uploads, and the claims we extract from them.
- Record: your published contributions, the full transcript, edits and the reasons for them, corrections, version history, and your profile.
- Derived Data: structured data we create from Contributions, such as claims, tags, classifications, summaries and quality or novelty grades.
- Third Party: an organisation outside The Primary, including research organisations, AI developers, investment firms and data partners.
4. Interviews and accepting these terms.
Interviews may be conducted by our staff or by automated systems acting for us. We keep a full transcript of every interview. Before your first interview, we tell you that taking part is subject to these Contributor Terms, the Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy, with a link to each. By continuing to the interview, you accept them for all your interviews with us. If you do not agree, please do not take part. If these terms change materially, we will show you the notice again before your next interview.
You can also accept these terms when we show them to you on our website or platform. When you accept them, in either way, they apply to all your Contributions, including any you gave us before you accepted them.
5. Verification.
We may verify your identity and affiliation, for example by institutional email, your published record, or confirmation from another contributor.
6. Attribution.
Your name, role and institution are published with your Contributions, and we identify you as their source.
7. The licence you give us to publish.
You keep all copyright and other rights in your Contributions. You grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, perpetual licence to host, reproduce, edit for length and clarity, translate, publish, display and distribute your Contributions and Record, in any format or medium, and to create Derived Data. This licence lets us operate The Primary, including our website, data room, profiles, newsletters and feeds read by people and AI agents. To the extent the law allows, you waive, or agree not to assert, any moral rights that would prevent us from editing your Contributions for length and clarity or publishing what was cut and why, provided we do not misrepresent what you said.
8. Licensing to Third Parties.
You also grant us the right to sublicense, license or sell your Contributions, Record and Derived Data to Third Parties, including for research, analysis, and products that build on them, unless you opt out under section 12. We require every Third Party, by contract, to credit your Contributions to you wherever they display or publish them, and to keep the provenance of each Contribution (who said it and when) attached to it. We share with each Third Party a record of the terms that applied to each Contribution, so that it can verify where the Contribution came from.
9. AI training.
Third Parties licensed under section 8 may use your Contributions and Derived Data to train, fine-tune and evaluate machine-learning models, including future and successor models, and may use and commercialise those models and their outputs, unless you opt out under section 12. Once a model has been trained, the contribution cannot be removed from it.
10. Using our own models.
We may use Contributions and Derived Data to improve our own services, including to direct future interviews, check claims against each other, and train or evaluate models we operate. We do not sell those models with your identity in them.
11. Quoting you.
We may quote what you said in your published Contributions, by name and with your role and institution, in our marketing and investor materials, unless you opt out under section 12. We will not present a quote as an endorsement of The Primary unless you have agreed to that separately.
12. Opting out.
You can ask us at any time to stop licensing your Contributions to Third Parties, to stop licensing them for AI training, or to stop quoting you in our marketing, either entirely or only for a particular interview or topic, by writing to legal@theprimary.com. Your request takes effect within 90 days for new licences and new uses. It does not affect licences already granted to Third Parties or uses before your request, and it does not require Third Parties to delete Contributions already delivered to them or to remove them from models already trained.
13. Drafts, corrections and the permanent record.
We will show you a draft before publication and correct factual errors you point out. Corrections are published alongside the original, with version history. We are a publisher of record: we keep the published Record available permanently, subject to your rights under the Privacy Policy and applicable law.
14. No payment.
We do not pay for Contributions. You agree that the publication of your Record, and the profile and ranking in your name, are full consideration for the licences in these terms. Nothing in these terms or in our materials promises you equity, securities, tokens, profit share or any other financial return.
15. Your promises.
You confirm that:
- you are free to give the Contribution and to grant the licences in these terms, and doing so does not breach any duty of confidentiality, employment contract or third-party rights you are bound by;
- your answers are your own words and knowledge, and were not written or generated by AI tools;
- to the best of your knowledge, statements of fact are true, and you will tell us if you learn otherwise;
- you will not share classified, unlawfully obtained or personal health information about others.
16. Our editorial independence.
We decide what to publish, how to frame it, and whether to publish at all. We may decline or remove a Contribution, and we may verify claims against other sources.
17. Liability.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law. Otherwise our total liability to you is limited to SGD 100. We are not liable for how Third Parties use Contributions in breach of their licence with us, but we will act to enforce it.
18. Transfer.
We may transfer these terms, and the licences in them, to a company in our group or to a successor of our business.
19. Changes to these terms.
We will give you at least 30 days' notice of material changes. Changes that widen how we may license or use your Contributions apply to Contributions you made before the change only if you accept the new terms, for example when we show them to you on our platform or before your next interview.
20. Law and disputes.
These terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, and the courts of Singapore have exclusive jurisdiction. This does not take away rights you have under the consumer or data protection laws of the country where you live.
21. Removing a Contribution.
You can ask us to stop publishing a Contribution by writing to legal@theprimary.com. We will consider every request, and we will always grant it where the law requires. We keep a record that the Contribution existed and was changed, so that the version history stays accurate.
22. Ending these terms.
You can stop contributing at any time, and we can stop inviting you. Ending these terms does not affect: licences already granted to Third Parties; the published Record, subject to section 21 and your rights under the Privacy Policy; or sections 7 to 10, 14, 15, 17, 18 and 20 to 25, which continue to apply.
23. Disclaimer.
Publication on The Primary is not an endorsement of your views, and a score or ranking is our assessment of the record, not a guarantee of anything. To the extent the law allows, we provide the Services without warranties.
24. General.
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force. Our failure to enforce a term is not a waiver of it. No one other than you and us has rights under these terms, except that Third Parties licensed under section 8 may rely on the licence. These terms, the Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about your Contributions.
25. Notices.
We will send notices to the email address you gave us. You can send notices to legal@theprimary.com.
